We can assist you with the following:
-
Abbreviated adoptions: step parent adoption and adoption by relative within the third-degree (aunt, uncle).
A relative or step-parent adoption is a one step process by which we move straight to petition for adoption. The normal adoption process includes a home study, a petition for termination of parental rights and trial, a 30-day appeal period before being able to file your petition for adoption, and a second, adoption trial. -
Foster care adoptions: Florida's Adoptive Placement program awards an adoption subsidy.
-
International adoptions: After the conclusion of the adoption process, the state of Florida will provide a Certificate of Foreign Birth.
-
Adult adoptions
At the adoption stage of the process, a minor child's name can be changed without additional cost.
At the Law Offices of Joy N. Owenby, P.L., we have the experience and knowledge to make the adoption process flow as smoothly as possible. Contact our adoption lawyer for your free initial consultation.
