• Abbreviated adoptions: step parent adoption and adoption by relative within the third-degree (aunt, uncle).
• A relative or step-parent adoption is a one step process by which we move straight to petition for adoption. The normal adoption process includes a home study, a petition for termination of parental rights and trial, a 30-day appeal period before being able to file your petition for adoption, and a second, adoption trial.
• Foster care adoptions: Florida's Adoptive Placement program awards an adoption subsidy.
• International adoptions: After the conclusion of the adoption process, the state of Florida will provide a Certificate of Foreign Birth.
• Adult adoptions

At the adoption stage of the process, a minor child's name can be changed without additional cost.
