Deborah Potter
Senior Attorney
Attorney Deborah Potter, of Jacksonville, Florida, is a trusted Senior
Attorney at our firm, Owenby Law, P.A. She is experienced in representing
the State of Florida in litigation for the protection of children against
abuse, abandonment, and neglect. She has successfully litigated at least
10 trials per year in front of various Fourth Judicial Circuit Judges
in Duval County and Clay County. Attorney Potter maintains a caseload
of 60 to 80 cases with varying degrees of complexity, and has experience
with mediations and depositions.
Over the course of the last 10 years, she has supervised and served as
the liaison for our firm’s in-house internship program. Attorney
Potter also excellently provides legal advice and statutory interpretation
to state investigators and agents of the Department of Children and Families.
In addition to her expansive workload with our team, Attorney Potter teaches
Legal Writing and Research and Legal Methods and Public Speaking as an
adjunct professor at the Florida Coastal School of Law.
Prior to earning her JD from St. Thomas University School of Law, Attorney
Potter obtained her BA in Political Science at Rutgers University. She
is presently a member of the Florida Bar, in good standing. She is also
a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, and serves as the subcommittee
chair for the Dependency and Delinquency division.
