If you are in the United States Air Force or in the Air Force Reserves, you should be aware of the following:

You have been earning retirement benefits from the day you took your oath.
How your pension and other benefits are affected by a divorce varies from state to state, but in Florida, assets that you have accrued while married are subject to equitable distribution under the law.

That means that if you are a service member, your pension may be significantly impacted. On the other hand, if you are the husband or wife of an active duty member of the USAF, a retiree, or an Air Force reservist, you may be entitled to a portion of his or her accumulated benefits.
