Navy Pensions & Retirement Benefits

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces earn retirement benefits that often comprise the largest portion of a respective couple's marital property. Pensions and other military benefits that are accrued during the course of the marriage are subject to equitable division in the state of Florida. Sailors and officers of the Navy who are at sea or otherwise deployed fall under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, which allows for a ninety-day stay on any civil action, including divorce.
