About

Jennifer Runyan is an Associate Attorney at Owenby Law, P.A. who represents individuals and families in a range of family law, estate planning, and criminal matters. As a former prosecutor, Jennifer leverages her extensive insight handling high-stakes cases to counsel clients with serious and sensitive legal needs, including matters involving domestic violence, orders of protection, and criminal charges.

Jennifer is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science, and the University of Florida College of Law, where she earned her J.D.

While in law school, Jennifer gained invaluable experience through internships with the Bradford County Public Defender’s Office representing indigent defendants in misdemeanor and juvenile cases, the Duval County State Attorney’s Office, where she worked with victims and witnesses in domestic violence and sexual assault cases, and the Clay County State Attorney’s Office. Jennifer also served as a senior volunteer with the Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence Shelter in Richmond, Kentucky, where she helped victims of domestic violence prepare for court proceedings, obtain injunctions, and develop safety plans.

Prior to entering private practice, Jennifer worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Office of the State Attorney 4th Judicial Circuit in Duval County. As a Prosecutor, she tried numerous misdemeanor and felony cases to verdict and negotiated plea agreements with defense attorneys.

As an Associate with Owenby Law, Jennifer is trusted by colleagues and clients to handle a variety of complex legal matters. Her experience as a former prosecutor who worked and volunteered extensively with domestic violence victims makes her a powerful advocate and enables her to provide insightful counsel to clients seeking orders of protection, child custody, and positive divorce resolutions after enduring difficult traumas. She is known for her compassionate and caring approach and for her ability to leverage her litigation and negotiation skills to promote efficiency in her clients’ cases.
